My Song

Hand-drawn scan | Acrylic or sketchbook

$5 digital download

My Song is quiet and dreamy, like a tune you hum to yourself. A pale figure with a shock of bright red hair looks out with one pale blue eye, the other hidden behind a sweep of fringe. The face is barely there, just a brow, an eye, and a small line for a mouth, so the hair and the color do all the talking. Devorah laid down a brushy sage-green background, softened it into a glow around the head, and doodled a little chain of flowers in the corner. You receive a high-resolution digital file, ready to print at any size for a bedroom, a nursery, or anyone who loves soft, minimal portraits.

In Devorah's words

This is the explanation for My Song. The character is from the anime Charlotte, from around 2015. It's one of my favorite anime, and it's actually the anime that inspired me to make manga.

The character is a singer in the show, and I really like her music. Her band is called ZHIEND. So this is the character, and that's the story behind it.

Transcribed from Devorah's voice note, lightly edited.
